A bank contains samples, voices, presets and sequences.

Basically, everything that is loaded into the machine is part of the bank. Although usually the memory of a sampler is volatile, meaning that the data disappears when you turn off power, all bank data can be saved permanently using a hard disk drive or other media.

The number of samples that can be loaded into a bank at once is dependent on the amount of sample RAM the machine has.
